This vocal mixing is going to take some serious getting used to; The growls almost sound like background noise, they're that low in the mix. Otherwise, some very interesting musical passages and it seems great aside from the odd mixing.

I'm a sucker for progressive bluegrass music.

^I've heard of those guys for a while, but never checked them out. I should remedy that. If you want more old school, check out Power Trip's new album. As stated in my review, it sounds almost straight out of 1988.

Currently listening to some of my favorites from this album:

That's not the impression I get from the CD version though the instruments are noticeably over the vocals rather than the other way round. Compared to the first album though the vocals are much more direct and 'traditional' (for want of a better word).

Also am I crazy to want to vote for Tribal Ambient as an influence on RYM for this?

Well, it may be because the album isn't on Spotify, so I had to use a Youtube version, so maybe it sounded worse than normal. I did try the first album briefly and the mixing on that was completely unlistenable for me, lol! Then again, it also probably has to do with the fact that I'm used to music where the vocals are placed either near the front or way out in front, so obviously standard blakc metal mixing isn't what I'm used to. Like, even on the Aqilus album I noticed it a bit, though not as much, and on that album the vocals were obviously a secondary element anyway, so I had no problem with it. Which is probably one reason why Carach Angren is so easy for me to listen to, because their vocals are pretty high in the mix, without screwing the instruments over, so it's more the kind of sound I'm used to.

I do hear some tribal parts on the title track, but I'm not sure if it's enough for a secondary or not. I definitely hear it, though.
