It looks as though Mike Muir is the last remaining member from their classic albums.  I guess that I will be curious to check that out.  I used to be a huge fan back in the How Will I Laugh Tomorrow days.

It's an okay album, but nowhere near the brilliance of their pre-Art of Rebellion days.

I agree. Other than the opening track which is absolutely brilliant, this album sounds more like its two predecessors than the earlier material by the band. So theres not much thrash on the album. More punk/hardcore and funk.

...I still think their prime was during their Epic Records stride of albums. From How Will I laugh... to Suicidal for Life... (their debut is brilliant too but I never cared much for Join the Army)

Oh indeed! Although this is the debut and not the new album. The new album "Crossroads" is due out later this year/early next I believe Approve

Per Karlsson is not everybody's favourite singer (and Phillip Svennefelt before him) but I think he's great, love this vocal style.

.

Assuming your marathon has completed with "Sacrifice" what do you think of Saxon and, of course, "Sacrifice"?

I think that I enjoyed their most recent albums the most.  I would like to explore them further and get more familiar with their songs.  I guess the two bands I expected them to sound the most like were Judas Priest and Def Leppard but upon first listen through I didn't really hear all that much that I felt was as good as those two bands.  I guess that it was a case of I liked what I heard but my lack of familiarity with them was kind of a detriment.  I will see if further listens breed familiarity.
