It still sounds like Arkona, but like Yav it's also a bit different for them. While still plenty folksy, this is the closest they've come to a full on black metal album. But that's not to say that they suddenly have the genre's raw, cold sound or the Masha's growls sound more necro. They don't. But it is my first impression that there's more parts where the folk's dialled back and that there are more growls than clean singing too.
I'm not blown away on first listen but I feel like there's a lot of room for it to grow on me. I'd say four stars draft rating.
