^That sucks. The good thing for me is I likely won't have to worry about that happening, because I'm just one staff writer on a fairly big team of reviewers, so even when labels send stuff I'm personally not interested in, chances are someone else on the team will take it and review it. I can see that being frustrating, though, handling so many promos on your own and not getting albums you really want because you don't like anything else by the label.

I've got behind on new release reviews again. Well I've done 28 for 2016 releases actually but the trouble is few were for promos. 

Thing is I got took off the promo lists for some labels, no doubt due to my burnout when I was hardly writing anything (understandable), so some releases I was expecting haven't turned up. I'm most bummed about Dark Forest (which I just realised hasn't been added yet...better do that in a moment) but also kinda annoyed as I checked my records and Cruz del Sur Music doesn't seem to have sent me anything since Steel Prophet's Omniscient which I gave 2 stars to. I guess someone couldn't take criticism. 

I was also expecting the new Running Wild actually but after months of sending me stuff I had little to no interest in SPV/Steamhammer struck me from their promo list just before you said you had it (all access to existing promos even ones not that old was abruptly revoked). Ouch

^I heard a song from it on Youtube just now and thought it was brilliant. Love the clean vocals, and the fact that it sounds a lot more proggy than their last album, which I already liked a lot. I probably either have a promo for it already or will get one, but I have so many other stuff to review, but I may give it a listen at some point before it's out, to see what I think of the whole album.

First promo to head my way in a while that's actually interested me (I was expecting a promo of the new Dark Forest but it didn't show...and I realised when I checked that that particular label hasn't sent me a damn thing since 2014 when I gave one of theirs a negative write-up). 

This one is going to need a few listens to sink in I think, as well as a revisit to the previous album. There seem to be less hooks compared to Elements of the Infinite as to my ears they've shed even more of their melodeath side...though they have also changed vocalist and the new guy brings some clean vocals to the table, which I don't recall their previous work having.

^ Yes, it's a very good album though not one of my favourite Enslaved albums - I'd probably rate it about the middle of their back catalogue. I think the last 2 albums are their best ever.

For a band that started off sounding like Amaranthe, this album sure has some interesting, complex songwriting going on. The last song especially is one of the best epic length tracks I've heard in recent years.
