Listen to the pitches of the guitar simultaneously with a piano to get a hint of harmony and melody

So in all my musical ventures, I've consistently had this problem. My ears are shit and my music is harmonically terrible. So, I've been searching around, but I figure you guys might have some idea, having probably been through this yourself. Can anyone give me any hints about how to train my ears?
