I'm not good at guitar or bass, but I am seriously envious of that collection, Mark!

This guitar is an absolute piece of shit. Bought it off a friend for 2.50!!! And there was 40p in the case lol. Have no idea why the head has clearly been sawed in half (though he denies it) and it has been painted... yes... painted... But whatever, for 2.50 I basically use it for spare parts and 'experiment' with the electrical stuff without ruining one of my main guitars.

I have one, too. I bought it from a friend for an Iron Maiden ticket.
I had one of those, too, but it was one of the old ones - manufactured in the 80s - so the distortion wasn't extreme enough for my needs back in my teen days ;-) |

How do you like this one? I think I've got the older version, with the more metal styled Peavey logo, I have no idea what other differences there are.

The Dano is a great blues and classic rock guitar. It's fairly cheap, but has wonderful tones courtesy of those lipstick pickups. However, I put some flatwound strings on it, and it's perfect for jazz now - which is what I use it for |

Yeah, I virtually swim in Danelectro guitars in certain instrument stores, and they are pretty cheap, so I was wondering if they're any good.

the reason they are so cheap is that the body is a plywood frame covered in masonite, and they're made in Korea.
Jimmy page used to use one for slide guitar (for example, on In My Time of Dying) -that would be one of the originals from the 50s; right now the company is in their 2nd resurrection (they had a series of reissues in the 80s or 90s IIRC). These new ones - or at least, if you get one of the "Pro" models - are a little higher end than the old ones. No more wobbly wooden bridge, the pickups are slightly higher output, the tuners are a bit better, etc. Edited by Triceratopsoil - 19 Dec 2010 at 3:06pm |
