A lot of people on here like Meshuggah like this album.  Which full-length do you people think is their best?

DEI for me.  Catch-33 as the runner-up.

I voted for Chaosphere, but Nothing and ObZen are also favorites.

I feel all of them are great and in their own field of uniqueness. That being said, DEI is the most diverse from what I've seen and I feel it's the strongest.
Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

I only own the last 2 and the I EP, but you can definitely call me a fan of the band.  My brother has the ones I don't have, but I'm not as familiar with them.  I can't vote because of that, but I haven't heard a Meshuggah album I haven't liked.

Well the debut isnt all that interesting (extremely technical but the songwriting is lacking memorability), but Id say the rest of their output are worth purchasing.

Chaosphere! Because it's what the djent sound must express. The chaos and the end of the world. This collage of all the songs of the album at the end of the record is a total chaos.
Inexistence is the true normality.

Yeah thats probably true to someSmile. Meshuggah are one of those acts I started out having a kind of cold  relationship to. It wasnt until I saw them live that I truly understood how unique and how powerful their music really is. After that life altering experience (yes it was that goodTongue) I went back and gave the albums another spin and finally after many, many years (I had followed the bands development since Contradictions...) I was hooked.

Chaosphere because:

Obviously not the only reason, but I love this music video (and song)...

But it's weird because I've listened to Meshuggah's other albums besides Contradictions Collapse and ObZen before listening to Chaosphere and I've tolerated them.

BTW, vote is going to Catch Thirtythree.

Destroy Erase Improve for me. Feel like it's been going downhill from Catch Thirtythree and on.

Wait... are those suspenders?!?

Is Nothing one of their albums or the correct answer for someone like me who likes nothing from them?

It's the name of one of their albums.

LOL  Yep, I suspected as much and confirmed it by checking the database.

I really disliked Catch Thirty-Three the first time I heard it.  The second time that I listened to it, it wasn't nearly as bad.  I will be listening to it again quite soon as it is coming up in the alphabetical journey through my collection.  One of these days I'll probably check out their other stuff, but I don't really think that they are my cup of tea.

It's worth noting that Catch-33 isn't necessarily similar to their other stuff.  Although I do think they are considerably more "extreme" than the type of bands you tend to prefer.

I'm surprised that I'm the first vote for Nothing. (I've only heard the rerecorded version)

Both the original and the partiallly re-recorded version are great albums. Love them both and even though you have the re-recorded version its still worth getting the original version IMO.

DEI

Followed by Catch 33 and Chaosphere. I actually can't listen to Nothing now : O

Also their EP "I" is brilliant
Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

Listen to doom metal, worship Satan
