^ Not digging the art. Looks like an advertisement for a champion for a mobile fantasy RPG.

I lose track of Evergrey sometimes. Apparently I never heard the album before this. Guess I'll check out both in one go now.

^As far as I´ve been able to grasp from reading a couple of reviews, this one and the last are more or less sibling releases.

Yeah, Evergrey doesn't really change their sound too much, aside from the ill-advised attempt at a more commercial sound on Monday Morning Apocalypse, lol

The two latest albums are probably my favorites from them since their glory days in the early 2000's, though, tbh. They aren't anything especially new, but the songwriting just feels stronger and more consistent than it had been for a very long time, imo, especially The Orphean Testament.

I was probably harder on Monday Morning Apocalypse with a 2 star rating. To be honest I remember nothing about that album today. One day I'll revisit and see how my rating changes.

For me, Evergrey are generally a consistent band and that seems to be consensus on RYM too: not a single album with a sub 3.0 rating, which is quite an achievement on there.

1999-2004 will probably always be their best years though. Personally I always had a soft spot for Torn in addition to the big four Evergrey albums. Anyway, I found the latest solid and this looks on track to be around the same level.

Thought I'd go back and listen to this one for what must only be the second time as well:

Nah...I´m still not feeling it, even after all these years. Just wrote a completely new review of this one, which will be posted some time in the future, replacing the existing review, which I´m not happy with:

One final listen before I attempt my review tomorrow (it should be pretty easy, at this point.)

Next:

For "research purposes". I won't say anything about it today, but I'll probably give it a brief mention in my review. I'm curious to see how it stacks up against their former incarnation.
