Earlier:
Finally bumped this up to a 5 like Performance after loving it more and more with every listen. There's just so many layers of great melodies, atmospherics, and hooks all joining in unison. Can't understand how Eloy didn't get big in the 80's, this is peak arena rock. Now: |

Immortal's best IMO. And greatest artwork too.

That album kicks ass, but Sons of Northern Darkness is my favorite. One By One is one of metal's best album openers.

I'm not a prog fan either apart from Gentle Giant and a couple Yes albums, but I've always considered Rush more of a hard rock/metal band than a prog band. Though this is when they first started going in a new wave-y direction. Heard their early stuff? Caress of Steel is my favorite. Now:

Quite honestly? Not Queen's most enthralling album. I love this band, but this is a bit flat in places.

Wow! So much heavier than I expected! I've pretty much only heard the albums after this one.

Since my mp3 player absolutely refuses to sort splits into one folder I've ended up listening to this first as a four Mare Cognitum tracks, then four Spectral Lore tracks and now finally the two collaboration tracks. Both bands have enough individual material here to have put out an album each, but the flow just doesn't work properly out of sequence.

No, the debut I have heard, thinking about it a bit more. I always missed this one though.

How did I get to nearly 48 years of age without ever hearing this album? This is fucking amazing!
