Schizofrantik is a German band that explores quite a few styles but is heavily rooted in the grind.

Many other samples on youtube.

I'll check this out more. The first video doesn't convince me. THere are lots of brutal prog bands out there that are borderline and use some metal elements here and there. I believe we have a percentage rule for inclusion and don't automatically add just because there are a few heavy tracks scattered about. However, sounds like a cool band that's up my alley on a personal level. Lots of jazz-fusion, proggy as fuck time signatures and strangeness.

Thanks for the suggestion!

50% is required for any metal sub (per release). A reasonable amount of metal under that can be suggested for Metal Related though.

^ cool. Hypnotoad, if you are familiar with this band, are they like 50% metal? We can always add under Metal Related. I'll listen to some more later when i have time.

From what I've heard so far (and I've heard multiple albums in full now), these guys do seem pretty legit as far as a possible inclusion into the site goes. I see Oddities as more of a metal-related album, while Ripping Heartaches seems closer to prog or avant-garde metal (that first song in particular fucking rips). So yeah, I do endorse this one.

By the way, thank you very much for sharing these guys... there's some incredibly good stuff here. This band sounds like if Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Fantomas, Morglbl, and Blotted Science had a collective fever dream. It's insane stuff, but often fantastic and wildly varied too

Let's put it this way: somebody put them in as a suggestion to the PA eclectic team about 18 months ago and I voted move to Progmetal on first listen. As it turns out to our embarrassment it had already been added to eclectic.

So I feel like its around 50% across the albums. Have not listened to Night on the Shark in awhile. I seem to remember it being the least metallic.

I do know that my view is somewhat skewed by the early days at PA when a hint of a distorted power chord 35 minutes into an album would get you pigeon holed into a metal sub.

OK, the early albums seem to be impossible to sample. I can add them all as metal related for now and then tweak as necessary. I'm liking what i hear so i will get to them eventually.

I need clones!
