SEO is search engine optimization, the stuff that the webmaster does with page title, page description and page body, fixing certain ratios of keywords; this is what help his website to show up on good positions in Google searches. SEO is what made PA a great success - almost all its users found it by searching up music on Google.

I had a hunch and I Googled certain major metal albums. Almost all of the searches don't show MMA in the first 10 pages of results. I don't know if the searches show MMA at all because after the first 10 pages I'd get bored of looking. Albums I've seached are albums like Master Of Reality, Powerslave, Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence or Ghost Reveries. The only album whose page on MMA I could find is Marrow Of The Spirit (it was on page three of results).

BTW all these albums have pages on PA too, and those were showing up on pretty good positions, often on page 1.

That's very odd, the same thing happens when you search for bands, such as Opeth.

Hmm...Im sure Phil/ Max will see this thread and respond. It does sound a bit concerning.

That's even stranger. When I posted this thread, MMA was showing up on Google for seaches on band names, not in good positions (page 2 or 3 at best), but at least it was appearing. I don't remember what band names I searched then, but searching now for Opeth, Slayer, or Deathspell Omega doesn't show anything in the first 10 pages of results. Drudkh showed up on page 10.

We are aware of that ... SEO is working but since MMA is a new site, GOOGLE is including MMA slowly in the index and also the more other sites links MMA the better position we will get, it's a long thing.

We are checking this often .... as GOOGLE include MMA , as traffic will increase. It's going up and traffic from Google Search also , so we suppose it's OK and a think in progress , as we planned.

Thanks for asking

Well in that case m@x I think that would be a good idea to link the metal albums from PA to MMA.
For example on the Dream Theater  page from PA could be a link to MMA with a text like'' also on MMA'' or ''reviewed on MMA''. Same thing for the albums. Would that not increase ranking?

We need , for now, to focus on non-PA back links ! MMA is already well linked from PA (footer and some forum posts)

I think thats a good disposition. We dont want to annoy the members of PA by trying to "steal" their members. Those who are interested will find their way to MMA in time. That doesnt mean you cant advertice for MMA in your regular talk with people in the PA forum. Theres no hurt in telling people about the site if the opportunity arises.
