Three, an experienced prog/alt metal act, has been well known for fusing multiple genres over their discography. They toured with Dream Theater a few years ago, and they gained a small reputation for being a rather eclectic metal band. Overall, I think they would fit best into Alt metal, with their latest album, The End Has Begun, maybe fitting into prog.
Now that I think about it, they might even be considered avant!
