Basically anything instrumental! I'm already aware of Animals As Leaders, Gordian Knot, Cynic, Tony Macalpine, Vinnie More, Steve Vai,  Joe Satriani, etc. If you could recommend any more that'd be great!

Blue Stahli/VOXiS (Both are the same guy) has a lot of great instrumental industrial metal, and VOXiS's Darkeworld Project One is among my favorite albums. Here's a couple from VOXiS:

Little V is a modern shredder and does both original stuff and covers of video game music:

These are the first musicians that came to mind, hope you enjoy. Smile

Pure instrumental doesn't interest me too much, but I did find this band, The Spacelords, recently that I quite like. Space/stoner rock.

Karma To Burn immediately comes to mind. They did one album with a vocalist, forced on them by a record company. They also numbered their songs instead of naming them.

I'm really into instrumental rock/metal. I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but, for example, check these bands out:

Pomegranate Tiger - Entities (2013)
https://pomegranatetiger.bandcamp.com/album/entities-2

Outrun the Sunlight - Terrapin (2014); The Return of Inertia (2011)
https://outrunthesunlight.bandcamp.com/album/terrapin-2

The Helix Nebula - Meridian (2014)
https://thehelixnebula.bandcamp.com/releases

Divine Realm - Abyssal Light (2014)
https://divinerealm.bandcamp.com/album/abyssal-light

Sergey Golovin - Changes (2014)
https://sergeygolovin.bandcamp.com/album/changes

Tides from Nebula - Earthshine (2011); Eternal Movement (2013)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tb66hgi0LsY

Set and Setting - A Vivid Memory (2014)
https://setandsetting.bandcamp.com/album/a-vivid-memory

Jardín de la Croix - Circadia (2016)

Hope you enjoy them as I do Smile

There's always this one:

http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/various-artists-general/the-classic-hard-rock-christmas-album

Yes, it's Christmas music, and by a number of artists, but only the last song has any vocals.

Oh, and while most of their stuff does have vocals, Hawkwind has done some great instrumentals:

Plini - very talented guitarist, on PA he's labelled jazz-rock fusion, there is a little bit of that in his music.

Widek.  I've listened to Journey to the Stars and can't get enough of it.

I would recommend Magic Elf and 7for4. The former plays hard rock/heavy metal with jazz touch, while the latter mixes progressive metal, jazz, blues, space rock and everything in between. Complexity and technicality of their music are top-notch.
