Yeah, even the most hardcore I know personally, I don't they ever once said "Christian Law should be the law"
Even if they believe it, they've never said it at least LOL

Indeed, despite America being such a religious country we are pretty secular.

I hate how, when christians talk about their god, they almost allways mention creation, and salvation.
Why? im sure when we are dealing with an omniscient being such as "the Creator" you would have more arguments than, 'he created everything' and 'he saves you from hell'.

And about that, if 'god' created everything, he also created heaven and hell, and this is my understanding of what the faith is. And it is the christian beleif that god loves everyone and wants to save them all,(so he sent his son to 'die', which is another debate entirely). So if god loves all of us, and wants to save us all, WHY DID HE CREATE HELL? Why not just have heaven, and save everyone?

Well the old testament God was actually a vengeful God who let it rain with fire and brimstone if someone took a step down the wrong path ( not like the God in the new Testament who rarely intervenes), so in that respect Hell makes a lot of sense. As far as good stories go, I like the old testament God a lot more than the forgiving God in the new testament Big smile. I wanna hear about more people being consumed by giant tsunamies, great towers being crushed, people turned to stone and other adventures of that sort. Compared to that, Jesus is a rather dull character IMO.

^Oh yah say true.Smile

...and remember I only said compared to the great action in the old testament, because the story of Jesus is rather interesting in its own right. Torture, miracles, betrayal and some nice ladies too. Thats always good ingrediants if youre gonna tell an exciting story.

EXACTLY! Clap It's a simple line of logic that so many people oversee!

God initially created Hell for Satan according to Christian theology. My issue is how God can save people from Hell, but chooses not to. This video sums it up well... Denise really needs help:

As purely fictional literature, I find the Old Testament to be a very interesting read. I've read the entire Bible in the last year (as an atheist the entire time Wink) and I did enjoy some of the stories.

It's absurd to believe there's a grain of truth in those words, and if they actually are true, then the Judeo-Christian God is an immoral being who abuses his powers. It's really funny how many people consider him to be an "all-loving God" and completely disregard the first half of their own holy book.

Yeah, what happened to the god of the old testament? The vengeful one that smote people and did such br00tal things? In the new testament he's so soft...

I was raised a Christian and I consider myself one at heart(but have been disillusioned with it mainly because I do not agree with much of the core principles of the evangelical movement/religious right) but a Deist/Agnostic in thought in action who has always found a fascination in the occult, paganism and satanism(even though they are not one and the same).
