Neoclassical Metal as a new parent sub as well. I think this will be a small sub but better that than artists misplaced and being moved around like they're playing a game of musical chairs.
So in all: Neoclassical Metal Doom Metal with Death-Doom Metal child sub Sludge Metal with Atmospheric Sludge Metal child sub Metalcore with Mathcore child sub Along with the additions, I'd also like to request a small change from last year's wave of new subs: Can US Power Metal be detached from the main Power Metal sub-genre and become its own main sub-genre please? The current setup makes it look like we're calling USPM a sub-genre of other power metal, which isn't actually true. You do get some USPM bands that are quite close to Euro techniques like Iced Earth, but mostly USPM is its own thing with its own way of doing things. Ideally these two things wouldn't share a name but we can hardly change history. Two parent genres makes more sense having worked on this sub for the past year.

And also the "See More Metal Reviews" link used to be for both new and old releases together. Can we get a link for the older releases as well or at least put them together again? We get more older release reviews and many reviewers who pile them up as to make them disappear quickly. Thanks :)

Will bring back YouTube, first. In the mean time, I will change the number of reviews in the homepage to 5 new, 10 older reviews

Nice to see more old release reviews on the frontpage, really helps them stay visible for longer if someone posts a bunch of reviews in a short time.

Glad to see that neoclassical and death-doom are now here.
So now I have to ask about one last gap that's bothering me: Brutal Death Metal |

I personally think it should be here. But it's not my decision to make. I do wonder why it keeps being left out though.

Merci, Monsieur! I agree with HeavyMetalCat. Brutal Death Metal should be here as well to distinguish it from old school death metal and tech. There is some death metal that is just ridiculously heavy.

Oh, also there is such a thing as symphonic death metal as well. I think that's a more than valid inclusion as well. Examples, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh etc. In fact, not to make things super complex but why can't we just be able to mix and match tags. For example: symphonic death, progressive black, avant-garde gothic etc. Seems like a more realistic and flexible way to pigeon-hole specifics. No idea if that's realistic but worth a shout. BTW, thanks for all the upgrades! As a fan of this site, i'm so happy!!!!

Mixing and matching tagging may require a pretty extensive reworking of the site I guess and throws up its own challenges around grouping similar styled bands and accuracy. We may well end up with additional subs at some point but each one does slow down and complicate adding bands to the site. Don't underestimate how much work we still have outstanding to add tens of thousands of missing bands and also to clean up and properly site the artists we do have. Just sorting what we do have at the rate we're going is going to take a long time without spending hours isolating what is symphonic death or whatever other (valid) category we add.

Just my input, let's not become RYM when it comes to amount of genres.
I'm overwhelmed with the way it is now. While I understand it's good to be as accurate as possible, I think it's fine to just have more minor derivatives mentioned as inclusive in its respective genre.
