Got 30. Missing the best Gamma Ray and Rage albums though, Sigh No More and Reflections of a Shadow.

Can't speak for the Rage album, don't have it, don't recall having heard it. They're far too prolific though with a cap of six albums per artist, one or two really good ones were bound to get shafted. I would refute that Sigh No More is Gamma Ray's best though. To my dying breath actually. Which isn't a comment on it being no good, it's just well, those others exist. Land of the Free/Somewhere Out in Space - for my money the best stuff Kai ever put out. Keeper 1 & 2 included.

They do, though USPM (although as far as USPM acts go they're generally one of the closer ones to the Euro sound).

One thing I love about German power metal is that a lot of it is harder than most who don't really listen to power metal expect it to be. Even Helloween, who started the typical EuroPM sound on Keeper 1 & 2 that today we associate as the power metal sound have harder albums with Deris. There are also a lot of key early bands evolving out of speed metal (more important to power metal in Germany than thrash) and also some who add a hard heavy metal edge (the Grave Digger school).

I got a fairly decent..... 88/100 on that German power metal list. That's what I would have expected, tbh.

On the german power metal I got an embarassingly low 7/100. I didn't expect to be a high score but thought it would have been more than that. Quite a few there that I've dipped into and not made it to the end though.
Update - I can make that 8 now and I've discovered a great band I'd never listened to before - Angel Dust. Edited by Nightfly - 26 Nov 2020 at 4:53pm |

I have Angel Dust's early speed metal albums. Still not heard any of their power metal albums ironically.

lol I'm probably the only one who's favorite Gamma Ray album is Sigh No More. It didn't used to be, but I realized a couple years ago it has some of their catchiest songs. We Won't Stop the War and Countdown especially are great. I highly recommend checking out that Rage album though, just instant hooks on that album.

My November 2020 list has just been posted: https://www.listchallenges.com/albums-adam-listened-to-in-november-2020
Not a very varied or extensive month this one. Finished up the Paradise Lost discography at the start of the month, then went through my Running Wild's plus some on streaming and other assorted German power metal, and have been heavy into Ihsahn again this last week, who has become one of my favourite artists in 2020 after basically ignoring him for the rest of the last decade. This brought my total different albums heard in 2020 to an even 500.

RYM data on this one, but a new metal list. What the RYM top 100 looks like if you select the new Diverse Chart feature, which limits the chart to one album per artist. Making a series of these, this first one is #1 - #100.
I got 57.
