Topic: are Clutch metal Posted: 22 Oct 2010 at 8:06pm |
just wonder, since i often se them as a reeeeaaaly hard hittin band that are in many songs metal, gruff vocals (almoust growl), downtuned guitars, slow, stoner/doom like, southern styles,
they are often compared to other metal bands, but I most also say they are not 100%metal but i think probably enough
or are they a stretch

My personal opinion, they are pretty much just hard rock.
I can see it....but yeah, I'd say Clutch is a bit of a stretch.

Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer and Testament. The real Big Four of thrash metal!

We checked them out for Alt in the early days and left them out. Hard Rock, I'd say, so in case we get that subgenre implemented we could have them here.

I was actually the one who suggested Clutch, but the alternative team felt they didnt fit and for now I respect that decision. A hard rock genre would most definitely warrant inclusion though.

I just checked their Allmusic profile and band they share "similarities" with is almoust 90% metalbands, bands they have "influenced" are only metal, like Mastodon and Black Label Society, and band they are influenced with is Faith No More, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, Melvins and Soundgarden, funk/avant-metal, metal pioneers, and Alternative metal,

If it were up to me, I'd include them under alternative metal right now and move them to hard rock when that sub is established.

^Id support that , but I dont want to overrule a decision made by the alternative team, so if Pekka still dont feel Clutch belong, I dont think we should add them.

I haven't really been following the discussion all that closely, so how likely is it that the hard rock sub is coming? If it is, I'd be okay with that, since I guess adding a new sub brings a lot of work, and this would mean something less to do then.
