Little while ago, I saw an argument on another metal forum as which one of these two albums is better and so on, so I thought I should ask you, too.

Two excellent concept albums, but which one satisfies you more?
I have always listened to The Crimson Idol more, but O:M is a monster album as well, no vote from me for now, it's definitely a head scratcher LOL (I'm inventing words, sorry about that).

Haven´t heard Crimson Idol, so I can´t vote. WASP was just not a band I grew up with, although I knew of their existence. I´ll make amends at some point.

I enjoy WASP but Queensryche get my vote - a classic for sure.

Wasp didn't fuck The Crimson Idol by releasing The Crimson Idol II.

I first heard "The Needle Lies" from Operation: Mindcrime on a compilation and loved it. So when I bought the actual album, I found it a bit disappointing. I did eventually get into it though. Crimson Idol was similar, a bit of a slow starter, but it's got chainsaws in it, so it wins.

Love Mindcrime, but never heard Crimson Idol. Should fix that soon.

I am shocked at the number of people who have not heard The Crimson Idol. Top 3 (or even best) WASP album.

I will vote for it in protest (and to avoid the trouble of choosing between them!)

Voted for O:M, I was never much of a WASP fan, though they have a few decent tunes. And yes, I have heard Crimson Idol, a buddy of mine I used to be in a band with is a big WASP fan. We used to play Widowmaker in that band.

Okay this is probably going to sound bad, but...

I've never heard Operation Mindcrime. Not even a single song. And...

I'd never even heard of The Crimson Idol before this thread was made.

I'll just run away and hide now.

Kids Ermm

Actually I have the album (OM) and always thought it over-rated, which is probably a greater heresy in the metal world.

No.

That just made the whole thing sound even worse didn't it?

Not really sure why and I acknowledge I'm probably missing out on an essential release or two, but they've always been a band I've never felt inspired to check out. One day I will probably change that and most likely kick myself, but when that will be I have no idea.

I haven't even heard that much of both albums. Neither bands really interest me that much bu from what I heard Mindcrime was better. I especially don't listen to QR that much because they just bore me sometimes. I do enjoy their first EP which was very fun.

Sometimes there's a reason we never feel inclined to listen to something, but if you ever get to listening to them I think you may like their earlier albums. They kind of have a US power metal sound to them. Especially the debut EP that Thatcher mentioned.

If you enjoy acts like Fates Warning and Crimson Glory (and I know that you at least enjoy the latter), you should definitely check out at least Operation Mindcrime. I think you´d enjoy the debut a lot too. Anything up and until Promised Land is worth a listen though, but I´d recommend those two before anything else knowing your tastes a bit. Tate used to be an incredible singer (probably one of the most talented 80s heavy metal singers Í´ve heard), and the rest of the band are very well playing too. Definitely a band you shouldn´t miss out on.

I personally don't like either album or band.  Not my cup of tea.
Be excellent to each other.

Must be some kind of omen but today I was digging around a used CD shop and came across Rage for Order for £3. That's the sort of incentive to try a band I like. Haven't played it yet though. They also had Promised Land but I had limited cash on me and there were a couple of other albums I wanted so I basically took pot luck on which Queensrÿche to get.

Rage for Order's a great album, has a cool futuristic atmosphere to it. Definitely not a bad start. Thumbs Up

It didn't exactly blow me away on first listen, but maybe it'll grow on me.
