Still on this as I had to go out this morning.
So far my impressions are decidedly mixed. It seemed really great at first but the further I get in the more underwhelmed I'm getting by it. I still have six tracks to go and quite frankly by this point it's boring me to tears. An occasional passage may get my attention back but it isn't long before it loses me again.

This one looks set to exceed expectations on all fronts. I'm not sure why I always seem to set them low for Avantasia, especially since the last one ended up being in my top 3 for the project. Maybe it's because I always half expect Tobias to have finally lost the plot.

I only listened to about half so far. It seems decent enough though I recall getting a better impression off of their debut (which I've only played once). I'll finish this up either tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah, I was actually the same going into the new one with a bit of doubt, though that was mostly because the guest list seemed underwhelming. I find, though, that at least with Avantasia, Tobi is about as reliable a source as any you can find, so while he never totally blows me away, I'm always satisfied with his albums.

I agree with that assessment of Avantasia. Good quality and entertaining power metal but the socks stay on. Now:
