IRON MAIDEN - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son cover

This came out 11 April 1988 (it's 12 April where I live now, but I didn't realise this until it was too late to give it a listen last night!)

I actually played this one yesterday in complete ignorance of its anniversary.

I'm doing an impromptu discography run of Edguy, for no particular reason other than I listened to some of their stuff randomly and decided to do a full marathon. I likely won't do the first two albums, because they're tough to listen to at this point, and I'll save Theater of Salvation for last because it's the best.

I used to hate this one, but it somehow became like my third or fourth favorite over the years, and if anything it's growing on me even more.

This is probably the worst of their modern albums, between it and Tinnitus Sanctus, though it still has some good stuff.

Probably the best of their more modern stuff (they switched to a more of a heavy metal sound around this time), and my second favorite overall, I think. It has some of their hardest hitting stuff, and is easily their most consistent outside of Theater of Salvation.

I never really had much of a reaction to this one, either good or bad. It's kinda just there, and at least so far on this re-listen, I feel the same as ever.

Well if anyone should be able to pull off playing Geedy´s crazy basslines it would be Claypool. I´m interested to see what kind of vocals they´ll treat us to. Claypool is an incredibly talented guy, so maybe he´s actually able to sing and we just didn´t know it LOL

Every time I see this cover, I think techdeath even though I know it's power metal.

Easily their worst album (even factoring the demo version of Savage Poetry), but it still has some good stuff. The production just sucks, though, LOL

A remarkable jump up in quality, both in terms of the overall sound and the actual songs.

One of the rare re-recorded albums that's inarguably a massive improvement over the original.

Even factoring in Avantasia, this is still my favorite album Tobias has ever made, with the title track and especially Babylon being among my all time favorites.
