It seems you enjoy the more technical/ progressive "polished" death metal compared to the more raw and old school sounding death metal. Do you think thats true?
Seing that you enjoy Obscura I can recommend that you check out:
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/necrophagist.aspx?ac=necrophagi ( especially "Epitaph")
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/pestilence.aspx?ac=pestilence ( "Testimony of the Ancients" and "Spheres")
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/sadist.aspx?ac=sadist ( I would avoid the debut and especially "Lego", but the rest are pretty damn fine technical/ progressive death metal)
Im pretty sure youve already heard Death, Atheist and Cynic so I didnt mention them. But if you havent they are of course mandatory listening for fans of technical/ progressive death metal. Edited by UMUR - 18 Apr 2011 at 5:50am |

Ive been listening to a lot of old school Scandinavian releases lately and Ive been enjoying myself a lot with those. Ive been listening to:
I didnt like the last one much, but the rest of them were pretty good.

Wow Ive just visited RYM and the new Morbid Angel album is completely sacked by a majority of the people there:
The current rating is 1.21 out of 5 ( 40 votes). While some people are probably being a bit too harsh its not a good sign IMO.

Wow just saw that there will be a new Decapitated out in July. One of my favorite death metal acts. I cant wait to hear what the new lineup is able to do.

Has anyone been following the Morbid Angel FB page? http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/officialmorbidangelpage
Morbid Angel keeps posting quotes from musicians about the new album, and each time the fans come back and say extremely negative things. The album got bad reviews too (from what I've read)... I appreciate the change in direction, but it just didn't work... |

I dont have a Facebook account so I cant follow the thread. Boy it must be a grand disappointment for them coming back after all those years and get negative reviews.

Great news! Their last album is fantastic, I hope they'll follow the same (tech/progressive) path in the new album.

Hell yeah fans of melodic technical death metal in the vein of Obscura take notice here. What a great album. Hopefully Ill have a review ready in a couple of days/ weeks. Its a very different beast from their debut album which could be tagged brutal technical death metal and I might add a very artistically succesful album in that genre. This time a lot of melody and semi-progressive elements have been added to the sound.
Id say both Kim, Jeff and Adam should be able to find a lot of enjoyment here. Edited by UMUR - 03 Jun 2011 at 2:51am |

Here's a new song from Japanese electronic melodic death metal band Blood Stain Child. Definitely will be better than Mozaiq.

My first listen of the album wasn't that bad, but after I listened to it again, and again it got much worse. Really dissapointing.
