My instinct is to buy the double, and then stream the single to judge how worthwhile it is having both, but they do say there's music on the abridged version that isn't on the extended, not just vice versa.

^ Yes, the cynic in me makes me think they want everyone to have to buy it twice.

New Transatlantic is inbound for 2021 as well.
This is going to be released in two versions, an Abridged version and an Extended version, but both feature changes to the music rather than just be the same songs cut and/or extended.

I mostly only enjoy Fates Warning's USPM phase, their prog has never wowed me, but I'm sure this will please some here more than me.

Eagerly awaiting releases from Mastodon and Gojira in 2021. Possibly Meshuggah also.

I think there's been more new blood, most of my favorite releases this year have been from recent artists, some being debuts. Also I'd say musicians might've been able to be even more productive writing wise, especially solo artists (which takes up most of the electronic music spectrum). Surprise returns of Jungle Brothers and Pendulum were nice too, after a decade or more of being inactive. Just looking on the bright side. |

Enslaved pushed their new one back as well, though that's still made it in 2020.
There are also new bands out there who hadn't really been able to get started. The ex-members of Nervosa started a new band but weren't able to rehearse together to find their sound because of the pandemic, so who knows when groups like that will be able to make albums? Though that band did manage to post a one minute sample of where they're going, with everyone playing separately, and it sounds promising: |

Yeah, it has definitely affected music, as expected. That Epica album, for example, would have been released this year if not for COVID, from what I understand, where now it's been pushed back to February.

That remark was more about things other than music. But music in 2020 has suffered as well, despite some great albums released. Some albums have faced delays, for example, not to mention that bands can't tour which a big deal for their income from their music.

I dunno, I gotta say 2020's so far been a pretty good year for music (outside of lack of concerts). I'd say better than 2018 and maybe 2019.

^That single is absolutely incredible, even by Epica standards, so I'm expecting an instant album of the decade contender from that one. It also has Kingdom of Heaven 3, which should be epic as fuck!

2021 albums are starting to be revealed. Here's hoping next year is a better year than 2020 in all things. |

I wasn't as keen on their last one so I hope they've remembered to really bring the power metal this time. What's most interesting about this one is that they've done a 12 minute tracking featuring both Lance King and Matt Barlow, their previous lead vocalists.

As you know, I wasn't a big fan of Dahmer but I did enjoy Grim Scary Tales a lot more. Hopefully this will be more like that.
