Yeah it´s pretty old school US power metal influenced progressive metal. Artists like Fates Warning, Queenrÿche, and Watchtower are pretty obvious influences as well as more "regular" heavy metal acts like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I love the old school sound, before the introduction of keyboards. I enjoy keyboards in metal, but only on occasion and only if they are used right. I´m usually not a fan of keyboard dominated metal.

I know it says "upcoming" albums, but I'd just like to mention that the new Officium Triste has just been released. It's called The Death of Gaia.

Blood Ceremony were working on a new album when they released the last single which was a while ago now so hopefully get one from them soon though I can't find any mention of it yet.

Myrkur has a new one coming. This one is to be pure folk music though. Not sure if that's as a one off or a permanent thing. I am interested in this but I hope she isn't dropping the black metal full time. Despite what her detractors say she's a rather unique act and has a lot of potential with her sound.

^ I like quite a lot of folk so it doesn't bother me if she's ditched the black metal. Might make her less unique though.

I'm very partial to a bit of folk so I'm actually quite hyped for it. Just about to listen to the single.

But man people are still being toxic as fuck over her, finding any excuse to bring criticism. Just read a comment that basically implied the art style was ripped off from the artist Hans Dahl.

When it literally is a Hans Dahl painting!

According to a post today it's actually a painting she owns the original of, which has been in her family for generations, which may explain some confusion if its not one that's explicitly been seen before, but it's not as if Hans Dahl hasn't been the credited artist since it was revealed as the cover.

No longer 'upcoming' as of today, but I'm waiting for the arrival of my copy of the new Lovebites album. Based on the single and the early reports I've seen on RYM, it might be their best yet. Hope Amazon doesn't take all day like they sometimes do.
