Real obscure 70's western. Despite mumbling's around the internet of it being a hidden gem, it's actually a real low budget movie that's short on actual plot (those lines on the poster? Pretty much complete fabrication) and 'The Indian' is unfortunately played by a white actor, which seems real bad in a movie that puts a black man and a Native America as its two leads characters.

Also neither of them is called Charley One-Eye. Charley One-Eye was a fucking chicken.

Weird film. Worth watching I guess if you enjoy westerns as much as I do and want to see something unusual, otherwise not recommended. Had potential to be so much more.

Solid western.

Excellent western.

Another decent western, maybe could have been trimmed a little though.

So weird that it'll keep you watching, but I can't honestly say it was a good film upon conclusion. Leaves too many questions unanswered and I actually found it rather depressing.

Another brilliant 50's western.

More excellent Eastwood.

A weaker Eastwood western - still very entertaining.

Early Sam Peckinpah western. Probably the weakest of his I've seen so far.

I preferred the Coen Brothers later take on this story, but this one is very good too and definitely among John Wayne's best westerns.

Every bit as good as I'd been led to believe it was. Clap

Some good moments, mostly poor. I'd like to track down the original
[/QUOTE]

the original movie is great, one of my favorite post 2000 horror movies. I hope you manage to watch it. Big smile

The remake sucked Dead Most Asian horror remakes did, except the first Ring and the first Grudge.

Readers of the book tell me this is shit. Having never read the book I thought it was okay, with one scene in particular conveying a worryingly powerful message that made the film all too believable as something that really could happen one day, especially with how many people act these days when we all are supposed to be 110% politically correct.

Third watch this year. This has become one of those movies that I can just watch and watch over again.

James Stewart/Henry Fonda western. Thought it was a bit poor at first but it got a lot better as it went along. Interestingly Fonda plays the lead villain here (though he spends a good portion of the movie laid up in bed wounded) and it was released a little before his infamous casting against type in Once Upon a Time in the West.

A very different kind of western film. Deliberating slow in pace, but overall very good.

I was expecting to like this black comedy crime film from the brother of the director of In Bruges, but not this much. Quite surprised by the amount of influence of spaghetti westerns in it, especially the music, but also in the overall plot and characterisations.

In comparison this one, the last of the six feature films the McDonagh brothers have made between them I hadn't seen, was a massive disappointment. Much less entertaining darkly comic dialogue and events, which even the more psychological drama film Calvary does better than this and two generally unlikable characters make this film a complete misfire.

Dirty Harry's third outing isn't quite as good as the first two, but still excellent.

Entertaining comedy western.

Better than expected, but not great either.

This period drama was okay, nothing more.

Decent western heist film.

For an actor best known as playing the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant sure knows how to play a disturbing villain.

This Dirty Harry sequel was just as good as the first, for me.

Excellent psychological drama with black comedy elements.

Not classic Eastwood, but entertaining and he and Jeff Bridges make a great double act.

I don't mind FF movies if the story is interesting, I've seen a few that I enjoyed.
I think Rec is one of the best. Don't care much for Blair Witch Project.

I will watch this one. I did not know it was considered a turd, some users on youtube talk positively about it.

I also don't care much about ratings and reviews. Ratings on imdb I tend to ignore.

When I watched a found footage movie I want to feel suspense when watching it, since the whole idea of the genre is to imagine it's something that has really been found under mysterious circumstances. [Rec] just didn't do it for me most of the time, though it did have it's moments. This one, set in the Paris catacombs (and filmed on location) just worked for me, even as it's actual plot got increasingly weirder. Other ones I enjoyed are Grave Encounters (kind of silly ghost effects but compelling and freaky) and Willow Creak, where I admit not much happens for a while but the extended scene inside the tent is tense as hell and what sold me on that movie working in the style, where others like Blair Witch Project didn't. Troll Hunter is another good one, though to me it was less horror and more fantasy.

My main issue with it is that hardly anything happens beyond them getting lost and a few weird things hanging in the woods. Even the end scene was very underwhelming. I was expecting them to actually capture this Blair Witch on film even for a fleeting second. But you see literally nothing.

The Nun (2018)
Wasted potential, movie pissed me off, will Hollywood ever be aware of historical context in their movies? Ever care to research time and setting, culture of a place they set the action in (especially real places obviously). Not to mention the story jumps the shark a few times. Like I said, wasted opportunity because the people involved are talented.

I'm sick and tired to shut my brain off, it's entertainment, popcorn flick attitude mainstream Hollywood demands. Just a pathetic excuse to poor incompetent writing. Angry

For now it's just westerns for pre-60s films, but there are a number of other older titles I intend to see should I get the chance. Some of Hitchcock's films for a start.

And a couple from earlier in the week I forgot to post:

Average to poor horror.

Entertaining black and white 50's western.

Brutal and gory revenge thriller.

Excellent late 50's western.

Pretty standard 'creature' horror, but decent enough tension.

Same director of the excellent The Raid films.
I like it, a bit different from the usual!
