First promo to head my way in a while that's actually interested me (I was expecting a promo of the new Dark Forest but it didn't show...and I realised when I checked that that particular label hasn't sent me a damn thing since 2014 when I gave one of theirs a negative write-up).

This one is going to need a few listens to sink in I think, as well as a revisit to the previous album. There seem to be less hooks compared to Elements of the Infinite as to my ears they've shed even more of their melodeath side...though they have also changed vocalist and the new guy brings some clean vocals to the table, which I don't recall their previous work having.

I've got behind on new release reviews again. Well I've done 28 for 2016 releases actually but the trouble is few were for promos.

Thing is I got took off the promo lists for some labels, no doubt due to my burnout when I was hardly writing anything (understandable), so some releases I was expecting haven't turned up. I'm most bummed about Dark Forest (which I just realised hasn't been added yet...better do that in a moment) but also kinda annoyed as I checked my records and Cruz del Sur Music doesn't seem to have sent me anything since Steel Prophet's Omniscient which I gave 2 stars to. I guess someone couldn't take criticism.

I was also expecting the new Running Wild actually but after months of sending me stuff I had little to no interest in SPV/Steamhammer struck me from their promo list just before you said you had it (all access to existing promos even ones not that old was abruptly revoked). Ouch
