I've watched a few entertaining films this week: Big Fan (starring Patton Oswalt), and The Usual Suspects.  Tonight, I will watch The Deer Hunter.

Saturday night I watched Barton Fink and Requiem of a Dream.  Barton Fink was brilliant, Requiem on the other hand was too upsetting for me to really enjoy

No Godfather??? Yep Dan that is strangeBig smile.

Ive seen Papillon a number of times. Great movie. I kind of enjoy the slow tempo. The fate of Papillon is so cruel.

I've been watching a bunch of films lately.  This week I took 3 movies out of the library:
- Papillon
- Cigarettes and Coffee
- Brazil

They were all pretty enjoyable.  Papillon was a bit slow at times, but still a good watch.  My brother recently picked up The Godfather trilogy, so we're going to watch the 1st one tonight.  This may be strange for a guy who has been on this earth for 25 years, but I've never even seen The Godfather (any of them).

I watched "Sherlock Holmes" last night, half thinking it wasn't going to be any good but found myself liking it a lot, to my surprise.

Even the missus liked it! LOL

the Brave One (2007) - starring Jodie Foster; good movie, rather predictable at times though. It's worth a watch because of Foster's acting which is excellent IMO.

Excellent film, brilliant piece of dark satire with a very sinister, violent side. Recommended for anyone who likes a good old chortle with a serious edge.

"Purgatory... it's the one in the middle, neither really good or really shit... like Tottenham. Do you believe in all that stuff?"
"What, Tottenham?"
"No, the afterlife and all that..."

Not quoted exactly but you get the gist

Funny People.

Interesting watch.  A bit on the long side.  A few funny lines (mainly from Jonah Hill), but more of a dark comedy/drama.  I enjoyed the subplot about the tv show "Yo Teach!".  Acting not the greatest, but can't expect much for a Sandler film.  Pleased with how it ended.  Despite any flaws, I'd give it a 7/10.

^ That really scared me when I was a kid. My dad had the LP and I often snooped through his record collection as a child - the "News of the World" art gave haunted me for months.

I like how the poster art looks like 80s thrash metal LP cover artwork.

I would have thought of Queen's 'News of the world' at first sight.

Very exciting from beginning to end, just the right amount of unanswered questions. And great work by the actors. 9/10.
