Freewheel Burning was my intro to the band so whatever album that is off will do.

Nevertheless, it will be very interesting if  Judas Priest continued to the direction of "Sad Wings Of Destiny". I believe the result would be a more progressive rock sound with hard rock core and not the typical metal sound that characterizes them. I also want to say that the clothes worn then were much better than the clothes they wear today. And also the lyrics... Much better!

I bought a 3CD set that had Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings and Hero Hero.  I guess they threw Hero Hero into the set just to clear some warehouse space. LOL

^That's largely correct - Hero is mostly a cynical attempt by Gull records to cash in on Priest's fame when they signed to CBS (after having loads of grief from Gull, it should be noted), and is a compilation of existing material.

Some of the tracks, however, are presented the way (Black Sabbath producer) Rodger Bain wanted them as opposed to the way the band wanted them - and are interesting from that point of view. I forget which ones, but should be easy enough to Google if you're interested.

Sadly, it doesn't include the full-length version of Caviar and Meths (it was supposed to be 14 minutes, not 2 minutes long) - but Hero's a good "early days" collection.

"Sad Wings Of Destiny". Almost all the songs ("Tyrant" is my exception)

But "Rocka Rolla" is also a very good album. Especially the last three songs ("Run Of The Mill", "Dying To Meet You", and "Caviar And Meths"-a little diamond)

OK and "Killing Machine" or "Hell Bent For Leather" and the main reason is one song:
Delivering The Goods  (still makes me bang my head and playing air guitar)

I am not familiar with the whole JP discography, so I won't vote.

But Sad Wings, Sin, Stained glass, British Steel and Painkiller are quite good.

Fortunately, the Metal God is not a vengeful god, so he'll probably reward you for liking their music ;-)

^^^^^

Yeah, I suppose you're right.  It's definitely as metal as any album out at the time.  The genre was just forming at the time.

May the Metal God strike me where I stand for saying such a blasphemous statement. LOL

I think it's a metal album - early hard rock metal stuff very much inspired by Led Zep, to be sure, but nonetheless metal.

Same here.  It's definitely not a metal album, but it's a great listen.
