Our Kingdom of Decay is the 3rd full-length studio album by Danish melodic death metal act Compos Mentis. The album was released in June 2009 by Stange Ears. Compos Mentis has existed since 1996 but it´s my first encounter with the band.
The band play Swedish influenced melodeath on this album. Bands like Soilwork and In Flames come to mind. It´s so and so with the originality, but the band are really well playing and the songs are well composed. Add to that a powerful production and you got a quality product. Not necessarily the most innovative product, but it´s hard to deny quality. The songs are generally powerful, melodic and with the aggressive vocals by Jesper Heinsvig in front the outcome should be very satisfying for fans of the genre. I´d say a 3 - 3.5 star rating is deserved.
