Finnish act THE REPUBLIC OF DESIRE started out back in 1997, with Kalle Lindberg and Lasse Alander as the founding members. They issued their first demo "Groovecore" in 1998, and for the next few years the EP's "Biopreparat" (1999) and "Songs of Betrayal" (2001) followed, amidst several line-up changes that saw Panu Askonen (guitars) and Heikki Multanen (percussion) come and go.
By 2002 the band had stabilized with Paavo Alander (bass), Matti Jarva (drums) and Erik Zacharias (keyboards) joining the ranks alongside Lindberg and Lasse Alander, and this new line-up issued the band's first full length album "2.0 Beta" in 2003 and the EP "KVBER" in 2005.
These productions caught the attention of newly formed label Ammonite Records, who signed the band and subsequently released their second album "REALpolitik" in 2007. At that time Arto Eskola (guitars) had hooked up with the band as well, while Zacharias had signalled his intention to
