In November 2007 JETTBLACK entered Fortress studios and recorded the blistering self-titled album they knew they were capable of. With Sikth's own Justin Hill and Dan Weller at the helm, something very special has been created.

Instead of worrying about hair and make-up, JETTBLACK have concentrated their efforts on writing killer riffs, ear shredding solos and huge hooks all delivered with a no bullshit attitude and a tight as hell live show! JETTBLACK have taken their influences that lie in eighties and early nineties rock and metal and given them a fresh lease of life carefully crafted songs oozing with melody, power and unparalleled catchiness. This is rock and roll that will stand the test of time.

2008 took them on a rollercoaster ride, touring with the likes of Airbourne and playing a variety of high profile summer festivals such as T in the Park , NASS and Unleashed at the Boardmasters

'Raining Rock' is a valiant effort by the British glam hero, JETTBLACK, in giving their fans an album full of variety, highly riffs oriented, still accessible yet retained the raw and aggressive feel of the debut. In my first spins, I found that couple songs just didn't work and perhaps a little lower in quality if compared to most songs in the debut. The title track, for example, made me think that 'is it really the best pick to start because it seems kinda patchy' but then after several concentrated listening, you'll find it's such a galloping and energetic track, a great kicker!

'Prison of Love' is a beautiful commercial track, and together with 'Never Gonna Give It Up', are the radio gems of this album and a big potential to score a respectable chart position in their home country. I admire the riffs in 'System' and 'Temptation', both are also very good songs, but 'Something About This Girl' and 'Sunshine' are even better. JETTBLACK pull up a nice ballad in 'Black Gold' but I have doubt in 'The Sweet and The Brave'.

If you can grab the limited edition, the bonus track, 'Weapon', is an ultimate track, worth every penny you spent, because it's one of the best tracks here, but all in all, you can't find any bad tracks here and it's a pretty good follow-up to the debut. Maybe I slightly prefer the debut, however I don't see no reason to not own this beast if you dig that album. Amazing stuff!

Jettblack is another freshman on the glam revival wagon, bringing back the naughty kicker of classic Skid Row and transplanted a nice addition of guitar-driven hard rock of Mr.Big, tightening up their debut with a neat vocal switching of Will Stapleton and Jon Dow, one of them is sounded similar to Jon Oliva from Savatage while the other one reminds me of Chad Kroeger from Nickleback. "Get Your Hands Dirty", as what they called their first release, is rooted heavily on the 80s rhythm galore while successfully maintaining the modern edge.

"Slip It On", is a firestarter, exploded big in the style of "Addicted To That Rush". "Two Hot Girls" shakes wild with Stapleton/Dow's raunchy groove, another big fave of mine. "War Between Us" and the title track are reminiscent of the glorious era of Sebastian Bach, back in his days with Skid Row. "Not Even Love" is such a great bluesy power ballad, "Mother Fucker" is probably the heaviest load of the album, the guitars are nasty, this is a monster track. Other goodies such as "When It Comes To Lovin'", "Sleep", and "Holding" are also awesome, and probably only "Innocence Is Mine" is slightly anti-climax, they shouldn't put it at the end.

A brilliant start from this promising British band, I'm expecting a high quality output in their second effort. If you like hard rock with attitude, Jettblack's debut is smokin' hot.
