Iron Jaws started life in 2006, in the Asti province, Piemonte, Italy. The former elements, Roberto “Rock ‘n’ Rob” Massasso, Davide “MetalDave” Scavino and Roberto “Micini” Quaglia, are old-date friends, that share the love for speed metal bands like Exciter, Abattoir, Agent Steel. Soon Guido “Dynamite” Panzani joined the band as drummer, and the band played several shows in north Italy, sharing the stage with other underground bands like Alltheniko, Fallin’ Fuckin’ Angels, Holy Martyr. Iron Jaws proposed, since the beginning, several self-composed tracks, with few covers like Violence and Force, Screams from the Grave, Rising of the Dead.

At the end of 2009, Iron Jaws registered their first album, “Louder is not Enough”, released as self-produced in 2011. Later, the German underground label “Metal Bound Records” released Louder Is Not Enough on vinyl. Both CD and vinyl had a good success, mainly in Germany and Japan, and good reviews have

Speeding into the past...

Genre: speed metal

The Italian band Iron Jaws are all about celebrating old school thrash/speed metal, and, on their second full length release "Guilty of Ignorance", they adopt a deliberate 80s speed metal sound.

The opening track 'No Speed Limit' is not only aptly titled, but it also epitomizes the entire album. Throughout the album, the listener is treated to songs that embrace the aesthetics of early speed metal, such as traditional heavy metal riffs sped up a couple of notches, screaming vocals and rumbling drums. There's even a Hallow's Eve cover to underline what this album is all about.

While this album might not please all metaheads in the world, fans of old school metal are bound to like it. Firstly, it appeals to our sense of nostalgia Secondly, the music itself is actually pretty good and enjoyable. The vocals might take some getting used to, but they definitely fit perfectly into the overall spirit of the album.

So, if you are into retrospective speed metal, then you should not hesitate to purchase this fine album.

This is the second album from these Italians, and when one realises that they wanted to recreate the music of Exciter, Abattoir and Agent Steel then it is no surprise that this is what they sound like. It is almost as if the last thirty years haven’t happened, as this is the sort music that was appearing Metal Massacre compilations long before Death and Black Metal really started to make an appearance, while nu-metal was just a twinkle in someone’s eye. It is strange to think that at one time this style of metal was cutting edge and was at the limit of what people expected. Interestingly they call it speed metal, which is a term that never really caught on, much like Raven calling their own style athletic rock. Most people would think of this as thrash, nothing more or less.

The result here is an extremely solid album that will appeal to fans of the above bands, while at the same time adds absolutely nothing new to the genre. But, they do it well and this is a solid 3 * album, that although not essential, will certainly find plenty of fans.
