Recorded at Necromorbus Studio, Alvik, Sweden.

Released in three different CD-versions:
- normal jewelcase version
- limited digipack + Bonustrack "Chains of Death" (DEATH SS cover)
- collectors edition in the shape of a fully leather bound book, including the
Digipak version of "Lawless Darkness". The box also contains these exclusive
items: a Watain symbol pendant with chain, a black candle in wrapping, a full
colour flag 123 cm x 75 cm with 2 metal rings and 10 specially designed
illustrated cards in a pocket! Limited to 1000 copies worldwide.

Also released as DLP in gatefold by Norma Evangelium Diaboli, limited to 2500
copies worldwide.

Aggressive, straight down the line black metal which is decently produced and manages to be broadly entertaining... but which just doesn't quite feel like a keeper to me. If you're into black metal at all you already have a stack of albums that sound like this, most likely, and Watain don't show very much of a distinctive personality here. A decent enough gateway drug into the genre for those who are not very familiar with it, perhaps, but I suspect at the end of the day it is a little too by-the-numbers to impress genre devotees and not quite distinctive enough to really enthrall newcomers.
