Genre: thrash metal

Quick Change was one of the more obscure 80s thrash bands and I bet this release is unknown to the majority of the metal community of today.

And that's a bit of a shame, because it is actually not bad.

Quick Change treat us to furious old school thrash metal and, while not the most original thrash metal release in the world, it does capture (or borrow perhaps) elements from a lot of the great thrash metal bands and styles at the time. thus, there is the ferocity of Slayer, the melody of and riot backing vocals of Anthrax, the rock-ish solos of Metallica, the midtempo chucking of Exodus and so on. Quick Change never quite reach the level of brilliance of these artists, but they do a valiant effort nonetheless, and it is generally a joy to listen to the album if you are a fan of old school thrash metal.

The musicianship is not perfect, and the vocals are not always equally powerful (he sounds like a blend of Geoff Tate, Joey Belladonna, and Russ Anderson, and that's not too shabby), while the drums are sloppy at times. But the songwriting itself is pretty good, and the riffs are strong classic thrash metal riffs, and there are enough changes in every song to keep the album interesting.

Fans of old school thrash metal should definitely track down this album.
