UMUR
"Warkult" is the 9th full-length studio album by US death metal act Malevolent Creation. It´s the second album to feature lead vocalist Kyle Symons, but it would also be the last album with him behind the microphone as Brett Hoffman would return for another stint (his third) with the band on the next album "Doomsday X (2007)". "Warkult" was released through Nuclear Blast Records in July 2004.

The music on the album is death metal with brutal thrashy tendencies. Well played, decently produced and relatively well written. It´s certainly not the most interesting nor surprising album by Malevolent Creation, but it´s another solid release, delivering the goods. "Warkult" is the sound of a band fully content with the style they play and with little intent to visit new territory. Of course that´s not surprising as that attitude has more or less been the premise since day one. Sometimes it has worked wonders and sometimes the band´s releases have been more in the solid/standard department. I think "Warkult" belongs in the least interesting end of the band´s discography while still reaching a decent quality and entertainment level. It´s a mix of songwriting that could have been more memorable and a sound production that lacks slightly in the punch department. A 3 - 3.5 star (65%) rating is fair.
