"Hate Campaign" is the 5th full-length studio album by Swedish death metal act Dismember. The album was released through Nuclear Blast Records in January 2000.

The music style on the album is no surprise if you are familiar with the band´s back catalogue. A mix of old school Swedish death metal and melodic death metal not too far removed for the early Swedish melodeath scene. The band are well playing and especially during some of the more melodic tracks, they play some really well sounding melodic leads and themes. The more old school parts of the music are not as interesting though. It´s like a rehash of the ideas they´ve used since the debut, and too many of the tracks simply aren´t that memorable. Matti Kärki is a strong growler, but his singing style does become slightly monotone after a while. Maybe it´s a combination of unremarkable music and a pretty standard quality sound production, that affects the vocals.

"Hate Campaign" is overall a pretty enjoyable album, but unfortunately also an album that quality wise doesn´t stand out much neither in the band´s discography nor in death metal in general. Dismember fans should purchase without hesitation, while more casual fans should take a listen before spending their hard earned cash here. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
