Carnifex album number 2. Not necessarily the kind of number 2 that is a synonym for scat either!...but it ain't exactly gold either.
I'd definitely say that The Diseased and Poisoned is an improvement over their debut album. There were some catchy hooks in that album that automatically put it above some of the more prominent deathcore. They're slightly more of those hooks here on this album.
And by that, I mean even some of the breakdowns are catchy. Carnifex is definitely trying to sound interesting. "In Coalescence of Filth and Faith" is a pretty solid song in particular. I actually, thought that the first breakdown (the one with just the singer screaming his line before it) was the best part of the song. I actually feel that way on other parts of this album, but they aren't abundant in ever breakdown.
Though still not highly recommended, I feel that Carnifex are doing something right. With time, they might actually make something really interesting.
