I guess it's pretty genius to change your band name from "Frame" to "8-IS" since it's shorter and easier to remember, not to mention that if you line-up the disc at store, usually it ended up on the very front row before letter 'A'. The Italian trio created a project that's very obvious from the band's name, which is to paid homage to the 80s decade, especially on the softer side of metal from that era. These several years, I have discovered a lot of interesting Italian bands that's bringing back the classic sound which is popular 20 years ago, and not only that, they managed to unleash some really great songs as well. Skill In Veins, Shining Line, and Khymera, are a few names to remember.
"Everlasting Love" opened the door in a good midtempo melodic rock fashion, "Lady" swayed with a similar style, but I found the arrangement is much better and catchier, while "Fallin' In Your Eyes" has the happy vibe to put a smile on your face. Catalano's voice is warm and full of emotion while Milone plays some tender solos to match the songs arrangement. If you like bands such as Southern Sons, Planet 3, or Glass Tiger, songs like "I'll Be There", "On And On", and "If You Turn Around" will be a major pleasure to your ears. I spot couple of decent tracks, but majority of the tracks here are actually good and listenable.
The sound quality is acceptable for an independent production. My only complaint is they should have put couple of more uptempo songs to balance the album. Some tunes are very westcoast-ish, probably not for everyone if you're looking for some heavily distorted songs with pounding drumming. 8-IS has done a good job of recreating the nostalgic nuances through "Frame of Us", a fun treat to fans of lighter stuff from the eighties.
