Instrumental and combining progressive metal and jazz-fusion, Germany's 7 For 4 was formed by guitarist Wolfgang Zenk who had played with Sieges Even from 1993 - 1999 and contributed to two albums, Sophisicated(1995) and Uneven(1997) and then formed 7 For 4 with thier first release, Contact from 2001. He also runs and lectures at the Munich Guitar Institute(MGI) and composed, produced and engineered all three of the band's albums and distributed the music through MGI and two more albums followed, Time(2004) and Diffusion(2008).
Often citied as a hybrid between Liquid Tension Experiment and the Mahavishnu Orchestra and compared to Planet X and even, unfairly to Dream Theater. 7 For 4 fuses elements of latin and midle eastern ambiences, Canterbury sounds, symphonic prog and the shredding which this style is well known for.
