Oh yeah, that actually brings up another popular criticism against that series: Telltale released the first two episodes at the same time when the game unlocked, saying the first episode was too big so they had to split it into two. Well, people noted that if you combine the two episodes together, they'd still be shorter than most season 1 episodes, and when separated, they're shorter than anything else Telltale has done aside from the Michonne mini series, so that pissed some people off.
They're episodes have definitely gotten shorter lately, with A New Frontier being their shortest full series yet (though their Guardians of the Galaxy series so far is on pace to be decently long, after two episodes.) One thing I notice, though, is people claiming season 2 had like 2 hour episodes, where I have my times written down, based on my recent re-play, and the longest one was 1 hour/40 minutes, so that isn't even much longer than the longest episode of A New Frontier. Basically, people act like A New Frontier is suddenly a change into shorter episodes, where in reality, it's been a steady process that started with The Wolf Among Us and season 2.

Speaking of Telltale, they just announced three new seasons all in one go, all of which I plan on getting immediately: Batman Season 2, which starts in August (I'll be late to play the episode, due to something coming a week before that will take me much longer than a week, but that's actually a good thing, because it'll make the wait for episode 2 shorter) The Wolf Among Us Season 2, which will be in late 2018, and apparently one last season of TWD, which looks to be going in the direction you'd expect based on the end of A New Frontier, so I won't say anything about it until Adam finishes that one.

I'm playing whole episodes in one go as and when I fancy doing one rather than rushing them, though I do aim to finish it by the weekend.
I've actually been finally looking into Skyrim Special Edition today. Seems a lot more stable on my PC than the original 2011 release, though I haven't modded it so heavily with graphics mods. I haven't played that game right through since early 2015 so there's a chance I might get sucked back in for a long time. Which would be kinda dumb given how many unplayed or unfinished games I have on my immediate to do list.

Played through all of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice yesterday. It's one of those games where the actual gameplay isn't perfect (though it grow on me more and more as the game went on, and I was loving it by the end,) but the storytelling is incredible, and the way it layers its voice acting is something I've never seen done in a game before. It's hard to describe without spoiling the effect, but needless to say it works perfectly with the game's themes, and I hope other developers can learn from it. Headphones are required to get the full effect.

So Skyrim Special Edition has taken over all my gaming time (definitely recommend getting it even if you have the complete version of the original, the game seems much more stable, at least on PC, and they also fixed one of the most annoying graphic issues of the whole TES series: rain no longer clips straight through shelters!) so I still haven't done the last two episodes of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. I must try to get to them this week before I forget what happened in the first three.

I played a little more of The Walking Dead A New Frontier last week but it looks like getting drawn into another game for so long has really disrupted the flow of the series for me, and I'm having trouble getting back into it.
I recently started playing The Long Dark again as well. First time since it was officially released. For now I'm actually ignoring the long waited story mode and just doing survival mode which for me is what the game has always been about.

Been playing Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando and the Mega Man Anniversary Collection on PS2 lately. Ratchet and Clank is of course really fun as always, but I have to say that the flying stages can be a real pain.
The Mega Man collection includes the first 8 games, and so far I've mostly been playing the first two. They're pretty difficult, but I rarely get frustrated. It's always fun even when I screw up, and I've actually been enjoying the first game more even though most people think 2 is the best. Also, the soundtrack is the catchiest stuff I've ever heard: |

Decided to try out one the indie horror games I've accumulated from bundles: A Girls Fabric Face.
Disaster. The game might well be decent but it completely lacks any detailed options menu including v-sync which means the thing runs at really excessive FPS which causes really irritating coil whine from my GPU. You also cannot force v-sync with the nvidia control panel for this game because the only .exe file you can bring up with it is the game launcher, and the game itself ignores any settings you put on it. So basically, a terrible experience before it can even be started.

Okay, I'm really loosing my faith in the video game development industry today. The reason? Wasteland 2.
This game was first released in 2014 and has had many updates since including a so called Director'#s Cut version, which I've just decided to start playing today and find that the game crashes without fail every single time leaving the very first location. All online 'fixes' for this issue do not work. The devs, apparently, don't care enough to fix it either because it's been over two years since the DC version was released and it's unplayable. Waste of time and money. Expected much better of such a highly regarded game.

^Strange. I've only heard really good things about that game, and I've certainly heard nothing about crashes like that. I haven't played it myself, but my brother gifted me a copy a while back and he said it's very good. I saw his playing further into the game and he certainly wasn't having issues like that.
Right now I'm playing Assassin's Creed Origins and despite being pretty much burned out on that series in general, I'm really liking this one. They changed the combat to be more actiony and it works a lot better than the old system, and the open world is much bigger and now reminds me more of Witcher 3 than it does past games. My only concern is it has a level cap of 40 and I'm already level 26, without doing much of the main plot and still having well over half of the world to explore.

I've actually managed to get past that loading screen now. It only took eight or nine attempts before the game allowed me to play further. Now I'm spending more time wondering how long its going to be before its unplayable again, than actually enjoying the game. Which seems okay at best so far to be honest. The combat is turn based with a grid system and wow I've never seen a turn based system where the character attacks miss so fucking often. They literally miss enemies one square in front of their faces it seems like 75% of the time! And this is on the lowest difficulty setting!

Okay so after the incident of the unavoidable crash was finally solved Wasteland 2 has actually run really well since and I'm finally able to enjoy the game. Which is pretty good but man it has some really unusual quest design in places. I'm not sure if its just poorly thought out or intentionally unforgiving, but I've missed out on some quest rewards, achievements and even actual content through these design choices so far:
There was a quest at one point to release a farmer's stolen pigs. 'Don't worry about escorting them,' said the NPC, 'just let them out and they'll find their way back here.' The pigs walked straight into a minefield and died. 'Collect radioactive gunk (or whatever it was) as tribute to enter the temple,' another NPC tells me. 'Do not attack anyone in the canyon who is under the protection of a monk.' Radioactive gunk located in raider camp. Not allowed to fight them. Raiders turn hostile if you take the radioactive gunk that the MAIN QUEST requires you to get. You get the blame. Monks turn on you, including your own escort. You lose access to at least one quest after eventually doing this if you screwed up so much as once in the previous area - including before you even know you can't attack even the guy who tries to extort money from you. I really hate the monks faction at this point and am seriously ready to just start shooting next time, but I fear that would have even more repercussions down the line, especially from your own HQ. My team's already due a 'sit down' with the General for letting a prisoner escape - the result of a bargain you have to make in the game, again, as part of the main quest. Also, you lose an early companion permanently as soon as you get to this area without warning and no way to avoid it aside from never going there (and you need to go there for the main quest)- and you need that companion with you in order to get an achievement in another area - that the game has given you no reason to visit yet. I'm not so bothered about the achievement, if means nothing at the end of day, but this does make me suspect there's also content I've now been locked out of. The game is good, but it's incredibly frustrating when it pulls stunts like this.

Wasteland 2 just pulled it's worst stunt yet. I'm at this settlement called Damonta that's been overrun by robots. Naturally the game tasks you to get rid of them. Simple enough. Here's the thing: you're instructed that the robots came from an airplane graveyard north of Damonta. Logically that means you have to leave the Damonta map and travel north. Dead wrong. Also the second you return to the world map after leaving the Damonta map everybody dies.

Been playing an Amnesia/Outlast horror type called Lethe: Episode 1 which despite the name is not an episodic title and a complete game. It's pretty good. A twist on the format is that your character develops telekinetic powers part way through, which are officially only used to solve puzzles but did actually save me from an enemy in one point since I used them to throw something at it, which stopped its progress long enough for me to duck down a side passage and escape. The enemies haven't been too over-bearing in this one (unlike say Alien Isolation where the alien is breathing down your neck for most of the game), which I actually prefer because you can make decent progress in a short time but having not played it before still be on edge waiting for something to appear.

Fucking hell, Steam sale just started and the store didn't immediately go down.

Decided to treat myself to a few recent titles that I've had my eye on a while. Unless I spot something in the daily features that's too good to pass up this will be my limit this Steam sale:
Outlast 2 Prey Life is Strange: Before the Storm Dishonored: Death of the Outsider Have currently been replaying the original Life is Strange so even though Before the Storm is a prequel I expect I'll finish that first before diving into it.

Yeah, I was shocked earlier when the Steam sale started and the store was actually still working fine. I think that's seriously the first time I've ever seen that happen, so maybe they've finally adjusted their servers for huge waves of customers online at the same time.
I really liked the first two episodes of Before the Storm, but for some reason episode 3 didn't work for me at all. It seemed much darker than usual and it felt like my choices weren't doing anything, almost like I was in a completely different conversation from what the characters were talking about at times. It was very weird and extremely disappointing.

I've started Outlast 2 first of my new purchases. It handles very similar to the first game with some improvements but the setting is largely outdoors with various small buildings which makes it feel real different to the first. It may be due to unfamiliarity with where I'm going but it also feels like it's a little tougher where enemies are concerned. In the first game (which also happens in Amnesia) it seemed to be that enemies would sometimes leave the area after a little while but so far they don't seem to do that in this one, which increases the threat level of completing tasks. Enjoying the game so far.

Finished Outlast 2 today. Though there were a lot of aspects to the game that I found improved on the first, I ultimately have to rank it slightly lower mostly because of all the weird flashback/vision scenes set in a school, that I didn't really understand the purpose of even come the end of the game. I felt that they really disrupted the atmosphere and flow of the game.
