Thanks for the understanding! Now, if you don't mind, I'll close this one now, ready to reopen it when the time is right.

It wouldn't be controversial to me either. Also, they've been mentioned in one of Sam Dunne's documentaries as one of the very early hard rock/metal bands.
But policies are policies, so, for now, they won't be added, but maybe they will when MMA opens up for the inclusion of less obvious proto metal acts. |

Strange. For me this inclusion isn't controversial.
But for me, at the moment, Blue Cheer isn't a band for MMA, due to site policy

Blue Cheer have already been suggested, but - as you can see from the thread below - some members disagree strongly with their addition.
http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=70&PN=2 This makes them at least potentially controversial, therefore the suggestion will have to be put on hold until the site has established a reputation for itself. If you want further details about the reasons for this decision, please have a look at the following thread: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=418&PID=5918#5918 Edited by Raff - 08 May 2010 at 5:19pm |

yes, proto-stoner metal !
I would strongly support their inclusion. They did in 1968 what Black Sabbath did two years later. |

In my opinion, the first metal band. First two albums (Vincebus Eruptum & OutsideInside) easily fit the bill. Second side of their third album (New! Improved!) is also pretty heavy. From late 1969-1971, they dropped the heavy riffs and picked up a more psych/laid back rock sound. Since about 79 they returned to their metal roots and continued to play until founding member Dickie Peterson's death in Oct. 2009.
Other genres they could fit in would be Traditional Metal (for their albums: Beast is Back, Highlights & Lowlives & Dining with the Sharks). But their latest album, 2007s What Doesn't Kill You, is more Stoner Metal than anything else. Other than that, the explanation is in the music. -STA P.S. Great site by the way! |
