 Wow, gritty and nihilistic. Great band performances. Penelope Spheeris has always made great movies about punk and metal sub-culture, both factual and fictional.

I enjoyed it, though it's not my usual sort of thing. It's a very calm, contemplative movie. Without a lead star I really like I may not have been interested in it.

 A big dumb noisy war movie. Completely implausible, and a ridiculous plot, but so many great actors in it I could watch all day - Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, Donald Sutherland, Carroll O'Connor, Don Rickles, Harry Dean Stanton.

 OK, this hasn't aged particularly well, but there are so many stunning performances, and it's such a sharp satire of 1970s US society that it's still well worth a watch.

 Never seen this before. Absolutely brilliant! Rips so much piss out of war movies.  Also excellent. The fight scene in the church in particular is utterly over the top. Doesn't seem clever at first sight, but there's a vein of dark humour running through there.

 Black comedy. Needed more doing and less talking IMO, since the dialogue wasn't always witty enough.  Jessica Chastain is one of my favourite actresses but not even she could save this snoozefest.  The second watch inevitably loses some of the wow factor, but this is still a really excellent anime movie and I want to see more of the director's work.

 Pretty good thriller with Tom Cruise as an assassin and Jamie Foxx as his unlucky taxi driver trying to find some way out of the nightmare and put a stop to him.  For some reason I was really struggling to remember much about this movie, which is odd because it's great, though I think I prefer the Stand Alone Complex continuity of Ghost in the Shell.  Good, but also overhyped and thus very underwhelming. I don't think it's a re-watcher.
