Lost Horizon - 'A Flame to the Ground Beneath'
..To anyone who hasn't listened to this band yet, please, DO SO!! DEFINITELY one of the more underrated bands of the genre(..by far imo...Daniel has a voice of pure f*cking steel! but even the lyrics are awesome[and quite empowering!]). |

Nostradamus is my favorite Priest album, and Painkiller at a close 2nd.
but as far as the classics go, Sad Wings and Stained Class would have to be my favorites. Been listening to this live album recently, It's becoming one of my favorite live albums. Edited by Unitron - 15 Jul 2014 at 12:05pm |

I started with the two albums I was most interested in which were Painkiller and Sad Wings of Destiny. Since then though I've been working my way through their stuff in order.

Not sure which order you're travelling Adam but the next two (moving forward) are both crackers. Ram It Down and Turbo though are both insipid and a little forgetable in my book, similar to Point of Entry. It then picks up again with Painkiller.
Stained Class though is my all-time favourite. Anyway, Allegaeon? Never heard of 'em Seem to have a couple of good ratings. I'll have to take a listen. Enjoy a bit of tech-death. Edited by Bosh66 - 14 Jul 2014 at 5:14pm |

I must admit that Point of Entry was the first one of theirs that was disappointing at first listen. It usually takes me a few listens to find an appreciation for older albums in particular (I reckon I'm spoiled by modern production values) but I've rated everything up until that point with at least 3.5 stars and Stained Class and British Steel in particular really stood out. Painkiller though, I loved that one right away. Though I have a bit of an addiction to the song Running Wild from Killing Machine at the moment as well. Anyway, I just finished this one up (for the second time today): Insanely good tech death this one.

And a fine album it is.
British Steel was actually the first album that I purchased with my own money. I had a handful of albums that I had previously received as gifts, but this was the first one that I actually went out and bought. Edited by rushfan4 - 14 Jul 2014 at 3:42pm |

In the old codger stakes, I beat you all. Killing Machine, 1978 on crappy cassette tape. Still love that album.
Adam, you're in for a treat. Whilst there's certainly some filler over their discography, they cover everything from heavy prog to trad metal, to as you've recently found out, power. And made some of the most memorable albums I've ever heard. Beyond The Realms, off Stained Class, still gives me goose bumps |

I've been a fan of Priest since before you were born. Man I am getting old. Anyhow, it goes back to a time when MTV actually played music videos on a regular basis and I saw the video for "Breaking the Law". The video itself was kind of corny (as were many) with the band riding around in the back of a convertible performing the song, but man I really liked the song. I bought a vinyl copy of British Steel and eventually got everything from them. Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for Vengeance were both really huge on the radio and MTV, at least in these parts and really cemented my love of the band. They were definitely my favorite band for quite some time before I moved on to Metallica and then Rush.

I'm listening to Priest too, just not that one.
Believe it or not, I am only recently discovering their music. I will not listen to the new album until I've made myself familiar with their older stuff.
