Interested in seeing just how much they changed their sound on this one, though I'm not expecting much, based on how the last one went. If this doesn't go well, I'll try another of their early albums next, though likely after taking a break to hear something else first.

Okay, so this is pretty much the bland and boring Trivium I was expecting. I don't get what happened to them, but this is really lacking energy and creativity compared to Shogun.

I had avoided this band for a long time, but I decided to give this a try today, and I have to say, it's actually pretty awesome. Much thrasher than I was expecting, and even slightly proggy on a couple tracks.

Earlier:

Really digging this band's sound. I expect I'll have to pick this one up sometime.
Now: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/trivium/shogun
I stopped listening to Trivium after The Crusade, not because I didn't like them no more but because I'd found so many more bands I liked more. I've pretty much ignored them since. However their new album kinda intrigues me so I've decided to catch up on their last few records.
In all honesty though, they're still one of the few metalcore bands I've ever enjoyed at all, not that it's a genre I've dug into that much.
