The brazilian metal press (sites, magazines) is talking about the band Ghost (http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/ghost.aspx?ac=ghost) with much enthusiasm. This band is really that good?

I recently saw them playing live on the Copenhell festival 2013, and I found their show pretty entertaining. Their music is a soft type heavy metal with some satanic lyrics. Sort of like Coven meets Blue Oyster Cult meets Mercyful Fate or something like that...
...I kinda like them...

Yeah, enjoyable show. There is a huge hype around their name and immense promotion. Their first was vintage rock, ripping off Blue Oyster Cult and a couple of Mercyful Fate riffs and melodies. Didn't care for it at all, I guess Elizabeth (which is based on the rhythm of Mercyful Fate's Gypsy) and Ritual (based on a castrated Symphony of Destruction riff with a MF- Return of the Vampire chorus) are quite enjoyable. Some of my friends were very hooked.
The second one I thought is much, much better. Better songwriting and better hooks. Still quite soft but enjoyable. I heard their bassist is actually Leif Edling..!

I personally don't think that their music lives up to their impressive persona. I'll give it another go sometime.

I love Ghost's music, it's just so catchy and unoffensive... I really don't care for their image or all the hype that surrounds them though.
